The people we love
Branding and wayfinding solution for The Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair − the leading modern craft fair in the north of England.
Our insight centred around presenting craft as a credible contemporary discipline.
From recycled silk screens in 2008 to block prints in 2009, to kaleidoscopic abstracts in 2010, our award-winning campaigns have remained works of craft in their own right − regardless of whether they are ambient, advertising or wayfinding solutions.

Fair challenge
Individuality, authenticity and craftsmanship are the three values that characterise The Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair - the leading modern craft fair in the north of England. When Origin got involved in creating an integrated branding and wayfinding campaign for the fair, we needed to make sure these values were at the heart of a smart, cost-effective solution.
Crafty solution
Origin met the challenge by finding a solution using old silk screens as the ‘frames’ for both the branding and the wayfinding. This flexible and value-for-money approach provided a fantastic visual impact while retaining the fair’s all-important authenticity.
More than fair
Doubling in size from 2008 to 2009, the campaign drew record numbers of visitors and took the event from an amateur level to a fixture in the Manchester events calendar. It was awarded Best in Class in the 2009 Design Week Awards and won Highly Commended status in the 2009 Tourism Retailer of the Year Awards.
