The brand is focused on bringing the very best titles from Japan to the European market. How to turn a specialist games importer with niche appeal into a challenger brand with thought leadership?

Homing mechanism
Origin realised that achieving real stand-out in an oversupplied and undifferentiated market with a visually literate audience isn’t easy. Recommending that the brand should seek alternative distribution, our strategy was for Rising Star to ‘own’ Japanese gaming, summed up in the campaign line, ‘The Home of Japanese Games.’ We also created a branded community called Hoshi - a route to data capture, eCRM and direct sales.

Shining star
Hoshi has proved a big hit with Rising Star’s core audience base. Rising Star became the first games company to feature in the flagship Forbidden Planet Shaftesbury Avenue Store. Shortly afterwards, it was nominated for a prestigious MCV Award for Marketing Innovation.
